Congratulations to Jay-Z. After the opening of “The Book of Hov” exhibit at the Brooklyn Public Library, he just made history.
According to reports, the Brooklyn native has become the first male artist to have 10 multi-platinum albums. The Recording Industry Association of America (RIAA) certifications for The Blueprint 3 and The Black Album helped Jay reach the 10-million milestone mark.
The Blueprint 3 went double-platinum last week and The Black Album reached quadruple-platinum status. His other albums that also made the mark are The Dynasty, Magna Carta…Holy Grail, 4:44, Vol.2… Hard Knock Life, Vol. 3… Life and Times of S. Carter, The Blueprint, The Blueprint 2, and, Kingdom Come.
Jay joins Mariah Carey, who was the first Black person to achieve this status. She has over 11 solo records to have gone double-platinum in the country.
