Olympian Jordan Chiles may be able to keep her bronze medal after she won it for her floor routine at this year’s Olympics.

According to reports, USA Gymnastics had provided video evidence showing that Chiles’ coach Cecile Landi did submit a request to file an inquiry 47 seconds after the score with published and then again after 55 seconds.

The deadline to submit is one minute, proving that the inquiry was not late. The USA Gymnastics also revealed in a statement that they did not have the video evidence at the time. See the statement below.

We recently reported that the gymnast received large amounts of hate messages after being stripped of her bronze medal. Chiles’ mother, Gina went on social media to address the issues. “The racist disgusting comments are still happening in 2024,” she wrote. “I’m tired of people who say it no longer exists. My daughter is a highly decorated Olympian with the biggest heart and a level of sportsmanship that is unmatched…and she’s being called disgusting things.”

The 23-year-old gymnast later revealed that she was leaving social media to protect her mental health.  “I am taking this time and removing myself from social media for my mental health thank you, “ she shared on social media. Chiles’ sister, Jazmin, also addressed the situation of her sister being a target of racism.

“Please keep Jordan and my family in your prayers. Racism is real, it exists, it is alive and well,” she wrote. “They have officially, 5 days later, stripped her of one of her medals. Not because she didn’t win, not because she was drugged, not because she stepped out of bounds… But because judges failed to give her difficulty and forced an inquiry to be made.”

She also addressed the International Gymnastics Federation’s support of the Court of Arbitration for Sport’s decision to void the on-floor inquiry made by Coach Landi.
