LaTocha Scott recently made headlines after sharing an emotional freestyle rendition of Chris Brown’s song “Residuals.” In the video, posted on Instagram, the Xscape singer poured her heart out about personal struggles, including her estrangement from her sister, Tamika Scott, and her separation from husband Rocky Bivens. The emotional performance quickly caught the attention of fans and fellow Xscape members, sparking conversations about the group’s ongoing tensions.
Tamika Scott’s Reaction
Tamika Scott, LaTocha’s younger sister and fellow Xscape member, addressed the video during a recent appearance on the “Rickey Smiley Morning Show.” While she praised her sister’s vocal performance, she questioned whether the heartfelt freestyle was a genuine attempt at reconciliation or a strategic move for attention.
“She definitely ate vocally,” Tamika admitted. “But I’m not sure if this was a real olive branch or just a marketing tool.” She expressed disappointment that, despite the public display, LaTocha had not reached out to her directly.
“We haven’t talked… She hasn’t called. My number is the same. The address is the same,” Tamika continued. “If this is real, sis, pull up. You know I’m cooking now, let’s do breakfast.”
Tamika and LaTocha have been at odds for years, with their issues coming to a head after Tamika accused LaTocha and her husband of withholding $30,000 in royalties owed to her. This accusation led to a deep rift between the sisters and fueled the ongoing drama within Xscape.
Kandi Burruss Speaks Out
Kandi Burruss, another key member of Xscape, also shared her thoughts on the situation. She took a neutral stance but emphasized the importance of healing family wounds before addressing the group’s dynamic.
“In my personal opinion, LaTocha should fix what’s happening in the family first; talking about what’s going on with Xscape comes after that,” Kandi stated.
She also clarified that LaTocha had not been pushed out of the group. “She wasn’t kicked out, but she distanced herself,” Kandi explained. “If she really wants to come back, there are conversations that need to happen first.”
