Karen Huger of “Real Housewives of Potomac” has been found guilty of DUI as well as four other counts.
According to reports, Huger, 61, was found guilty of DUI, failure to control speed to avoid a collision, failure to notify of a change in address, and negligent driving after her car accident in March.
The Montgomery County State’s Attorney John McCarthy said in a statement, “Driving under the influence is extremely dangerous behavior. We prosecute thousands of D.U.I. cases every year and take them seriously.” He continued, “Huger’s case was not handled any differently based on the facts and her traffic history. We encourage the public to always drive sober and practice safety on the roads.”
The reality’s star attorney, A. Scott Bolden also said in a statement, “We are disappointed in the jury’s verdict but continue to reserve Mrs. Huger’s right to an appeal and intend to fully pursue justice on her behalf.”
In March, Karen Huger was charged after she crashed her car while driving in Potomac, Maryland. She drove across the median and hit a few street signs. Before the accident happened, Huger revealed that she was having dinner with a friend when they were having an emotional conversation.
“I was crying on my way home and saw a car heading right for me,” Huger said. “I swerved to avoid the head-on collision, hit the divider and then a tree. I’m hurt, bruised up a bit, but so grateful I am alive!”
She continued, “I did receive citations, one of which was unrelated to the incident which is understandable, but what was most surprising is that the car that almost hit me just drove away!
