L.A. Reid’s recent request to have his sexual assault lawsuit dismissed has been denied.

According to reports, New York Judge Valerie Caproni denied the request so the lawsuit will move forward. The lawsuit was filed by music producer, Drew Dixon, who also accused Russell Simmons of rape. In 2023, she sued Reid for sexual assault and said that he assaulted her twice while she was at Arista Records 20 years ago.

Dixon claims that the first sexual assault took place during a company retreat to Puerto Rico in 2001. She said that he “digitally penetrated” her without her permission. The second time it happened took place a few months later and said that Reid kissed and groped her while they were in the car together.

We previously reported that Dixon spoke about the incident. “It was very clear that I was being punished because I would not comply.” Her lawsuit also explains that Reid was persistent with his sexual harassment and with his retaliation if his advances were rejected.  Her lawyers also released a statement about the sexual assault lawsuit. “Reid’s persistent campaign of sexual harassment and assault forced me to abandon the work I loved when I was at the top of my game in the music business.”

Dixon is suing L.A. Reid for sexual battery, sexual assault, false imprisonment, intentional infliction of emotional distress, and a violation of the New York City Gender Motivated Violence Act.
