It’s been nearly a decade since Lamor Odom was discovered unconscious in a brothel in Las Vegas in 2015. After making a full recovery, the former NBA star is now sharing his experience.
During an appearance on the Kyle & Jackie O Show, an Australian morning radio show, Odom recalled the maladies he survived.
I do remember, but I don’t really remember because I was in a coma,” Odom said. “I had 12 strokes and six heart attacks when I was underneath seeing all black.”
During his four-day coma, Khloé Kardashian was by his side until he woke up.
“I remember on my way to that damn brothel, and I remember being upset that I didn’t have any cocaine to take to the brothel,” he said. “I had just signed the divorce papers and I thought I was just gonna go all the way in.”
Odom then shared that he put money on a credit card to cover up his plan. After having a drink, he woke up three days later in the hospital and the news of his overdose had spread.
“I don’t know what they were able to slip into my drink or what the f*ck,” Odom explained. “When I woke up, I couldn’t walk or talk. It took some months of rehabilitation and a lot of prayers, a lot of determination.”

Because of his experiences, Odom believes he can help those who are dealing with addiction.
“I think now my mission is probably to help people who have the same problem who couldn’t help themselves be able to understand addiction and understand that it’s a brain disease,” he said.
“So could you imagine if your brain was diseased and you kept feeding it poison. How would you act out? I think it’s important for people to really understand and educate themselves,” he went on.
