LeBron James hints at retiring from the NBA.
Following the Los Angeles Lakers’ game against the Memphis Grizzlies, James told reporters that he’s not going to play that much longer and gave himself a timeline. “I’m not going to play that much longer, to be completely honest,” he said.
“I don’t know how many years that is. If it’s one year or two years, whatever the case may be.” LeBron James has made history by becoming the oldest player to record three straight triple-doubles as Complex reports.
During his game against the Grizzlies, he scored 35 points, had 14 assists, and 12 rebounds. James, who will be turning 40 next month, also said that he doesn’t want to regress and play at a “subpar level.”
“I said the other night, I’m not playing until the wheels fall off. I’m not going to be that guy,” he said. “I’m not going to be the guy who is disrespecting the game because I just wanted to be out on the floor. That won’t be me.”
