Lizzo has finally spoken publicly about the sexual harassment lawsuits filed by three former backup dancers in 2023. During an interview on the Baby, This Is Keke Palmer podcast, released December 19, the singer expressed her shock and sadness about the allegations.

Lizzo Denies Allegations in Podcast Interview

“I was literally living in my dream,” Lizzo, 36, told host Keke Palmer. “Then the tour ended, and three ex-dancers completely blindsided me with a lawsuit.” She emphasized that these individuals, who didn’t complete her arena tour, were people she admired and gave opportunities to.

Lizzo admitted the claims hurt her deeply. “These were people I liked and respected as dancers,” she explained. “Hearing accusations of sexual harassment—it was shocking. It’s the type of thing the media can twist into something it’s not.”

The lawsuit, filed in Los Angeles, accuses Lizzo of creating a hostile work environment, including allegations of sexual harassment and weight shaming. Her company, Big Grrrl Touring, was also implicated. Lizzo has consistently denied the accusations, calling them “silly” and baseless.

“Let’s be clear: I did nothing wrong,” Lizzo said firmly on the podcast. She stressed that while she’s open about her sexuality, it shouldn’t be used against her. “I cannot accept or allow people to use that openness to make me out to be something I am not,” she said.

In addition to the dancers’ lawsuit, a former stylist, Asha Daniels, filed a separate complaint citing racial and sexual harassment within Lizzo’s team. Although a judge recently dismissed Lizzo as an individual defendant in Daniels’ case due to jurisdictional reasons, Daniels’ attorney clarified that the lawsuit remains active against her company.

Despite the ongoing legal battles, Lizzo remains focused on her journey. “This has been a learning experience,” she said. “I have no regrets, but I’m moving forward with strength as a boss and a creator.”

The next hearing for the dancers’ case is scheduled for January 2025. Meanwhile, Lizzo continues to advocate for positivity and resilience, telling fans, “I’m not quitting the joy of my life, which is making music and connecting with people.”
