Pop sensation Lizzo and late-night host Seth Meyers shared a hilarious and unexpected moment that started with a buzzed phone call and ended with a bouquet of flowers. The two had been filming a now-famous “Day Drinking” segment for Late Night with Seth Meyers in 2022, where Lizzo ended up leaving a voicemail for Meyers’ father, Larry. In the heat of the moment, she jokingly signed off with, “Bye, b*tch!”

Caught off guard, Meyers quickly hung up the phone.

“I panicked,” Meyers said during a recent episode of his show. “It was my dad. I didn’t know how he’d react.”

While the interaction was clearly in jest, Lizzo later took the extra step to make things right in the most Lizzo way possible — with flowers.

“You did something independent of me,” Meyers told her during her 2025 return to the show. “You got my dad’s address and sent flowers to his house with a note that said, ‘Dear Larry, I’m sorry I called you a b*tch.’”

Lizzo smiled and replied simply, “It’s true.”

Lizzo Keeping It Light, Keeping It Real

Meyers admitted the gesture caught him completely off guard.

“I had a real moment when that happened,” he said. “I thought to myself, what had to transpire in my life where one day I’d hear, ‘Hey, I got flowers from Lizzo’?”

During the 2025 segment, the pair decided to call Larry again. Lizzo promised, “This time, I won’t call him a b*tch.”

As fate would have it, the call went to voicemail again. But this time, Meyers beat her to the punch, joking, “She called you a b*tch backstage,” before hanging up with a laugh.

The lighthearted moment was a reminder of the easy chemistry the two share and Lizzo’s charm both on and off screen. While the comment may have been spontaneous, the thoughtfulness that followed showed the singer’s true character.

“She’s just that kind of person,” Meyers said. “Funny, genuine, and a class act.”
