Mase shares the story about the time Big L tried to set him up to get robbed.

On the recent episode of his podcast with Cam’ron, It Is What It Is, they began to tell the story of how Cam’ron was set to meet up with Big L and Mase but arrived late. It wasn’t until later that he learned of the setup. “I gotta go back to the first time,” Mase said before Cam’rom interjected and laughed, “Hold on, he tried to get you robbed on numerous occasions?!”

He continued, “I mean, if you go online right now you’ll see a story about Fat Joe talking about how me and L got into it, you know? I told L, ‘I’ll knock you out n***a. You faking, n***a. You know I know you, n***a.’ God Bless. He went and got Fat Joe on me, he went and got some Bronx n***as ‘cause he couldn’t find nobody.”

The “Welcome Back” rapper also recalls noticing that his relationship with Big L began to change once L became successful. Mase also said that he called out Big L for using his lyrics as well and shortly after that, he was confronted by Fat Joe.

“Next thing I know I’m in the tunnel and a n***a Fat Joe comes up to me,” he said, speaking about a former New York Nightclub. “Joe see me and Joe’s like, ‘I ain’t doing nothing to that n***a. So then a couple of months later, we get into it again about something and I think it was over a chick or something.”

He also talked about the second incident that occurred when he was hanging out on the block with his friends. “A Spanish n***a just run out of nowhere like, ‘Yo give it, give it up, n***a, Imma kill both of y’all n***as.”

Mase realized that he was with his childhood friend God Shammgod at the time of the robbery. “So I’m looking at Shamm like, ‘He don’t have me right now.’ You know, we play basketball so we, pause, communicating with our eyes. Like, ‘N***a, I’m about to run.’ Shamm got the look like, ‘Mase, stop playing.’ I give him back the look and this is happening in like 30 seconds, fast communication. I’m looking at the n***a like, ‘This my first Rolex. I can’t just give it up like this.’”

Before thing went further, Mase recalled slowly taking off his watch before the gunman pointed his gun to Shamm. He ended up throwing the watch and running off with Shamm. The police showed up and arrested the robbers.

“I got the watch back because… When they tried to take it to the precinct the cops just said, ‘Come and get it.’” The cops watched the footage again and revealed that Big L was responsible for the robbery.
