The film centers around Ava, portrayed by Good, a banking professional who is devastated when her husband Dallas, played by Hardrict, abruptly abandons their marriage. Determined to fight for their relationship, Ava’s journey takes an unexpected turn as she discovers the true nature of Dallas, revealing his deeply flawed and wicked character.
In a Q&A at the American Black Film Festival, Good explained more about her character Ava. “She’s on a journey, trying her best to be a supportive, loving wife. When her husband decides to leave her, she begins to rediscover herself, reclaiming her being and her worth.”
Good also praised her co-star, highlighting Hardrict’s performance in Divorce in Black. “What makes Cory amazing in his role as Dallas is his vulnerability. Regardless of the character he plays, viewers can still find some humanity in him, and that is what being a good actor is all about.”
