The highly anticipated Michael Jackson biopic Michael has a new release date.

According to reports, the date has been pushed back to 2025. The film was set to be released around Easter 2025 (between April 18-20), however, it will now be released on October 3, 2025. Many have speculated that the delay is due to a strategy call. They want to get Michael “positioned in the awards corridor next year.”

The film is being directed by Antoine Fuqua and produced by Graham King. This new change seems to work for movie critics and Michael Jackson fans. The change of dates seems to be the only change to the movie so far.

Universal Pictures is also the film’s international production company. The late King of Pop’s nephew, Jaafar Jackson, the son of Jermaine Jackson, will play the role of Michael. The movie will also star, Nia Long, Miles Teller, Colman Domingo, and Laura Harrier. John Branca and John McClain are also producers of the film, with John Logan writing the script.

This biopic comes 15 years after the sudden death of Michael Jackson in 2009. The film is being described as a “look at the complicated legendary recording artist from his human side to his public and private struggles.”
