Missy Elliott’s “Out Of This World: The Experience” tour stop in Hampton, Virginia, was a night to remember. The groundbreaking artist was honored by Virginia Congressman Bobby Scott and Hampton Mayor Donnie Tuck. This recognition adds another layer to her illustrious career. “It would be a crime — a ‘Misdemeanor’! — not to recognize you,” Congressman Scott said. “Thank you for all you’ve done, not only with the fame and fortune but giving back to the community.”

Missy Elliott: A Hometown Hero

Missy Elliott, a four-time Grammy winner, received a Congressional Certificate of Community Service. Mayor Tuck also declared August 2 as “Out of This World Tour Day” in Hampton. This isn’t the first time Missy has been honored by her hometown. In 2022, Portsmouth named a day after her and even dedicated a street in her name. She donated $50,000 to the city’s Redevelopment and Housing Authority, helping 26 families stay in their homes.

The “Out Of This World” tour marks Missy Elliott’s first headlining tour. Her performance featured 25 dancers, including ballerinas and a tap dancer, along with intergalactic set themes. Fans enjoyed timeless hits like “Get Ur Freak On,” “Hot Boyz,” and “Work It.” Timbaland, her longtime collaborator, shared his excitement before the concert. “I always [envisioned] her performing on stage,” he said. “For her to headline this tour… I’m glad that she’s seeing that people really love her and cherish all the work she’s done.”

A Night of Celebration

The concert ended with a heartfelt moment. Timbaland, Busta Rhymes, Spliff Star, and Ciara joined Missy on stage to congratulate her. “We only get one life, and it’s good to see [Elliott] live out the dream that she always wanted,” Timbaland added. He also performed alongside his son, Demetrius, making the night even more special. “This is a special night because I get to do this with my son,” Timbaland shared. The tour continues through August 2, concluding in Chicago.
