With the SAG-AFTRA strike underway many actors and actresses have shared their thoughts on the treatment of some of the top Hollywood execs. The most recent is one of the queens of comedy, Mo’Nique.
The star took to Instagram to share her thoughts. She posted a video of an old interview with her and Steve Harvey. In the clip, Mo’Nique discussed her views on Hollywood execs and at the time, the internet did not side with her. In the caption, she addressed it all.
“Folks keep asking me how I feel about the strike! As you can see from above I’ve been verbally striking for years, but some of my brothers & sisters as the video shows have been striking me down for years,” she wrote. “But, yes I support the WGA & SAG/AFTRA thats why @countessdvaughn & I filed a lawsuit to get our money from the parkers!!!”
The SAG-AFTRA strike has been on-going since mid-July after the union and major Hollywood studios could not come to an agreement after a month of negotiations.
“The eyes of the world and, particularly, the eyes of labor are upon us,” SAG-AFTRA president, Fran Drescher said in a press conference confirming the start of the strike. “What happens to us is important. What’s happening to us is happening across all fields of labor. When employers make Wall Street and greed their priority and they forget about the essential contributors who make the machine run, we have a problem.”
