Muni Long and her husband Raysean Hairston have decided to call it quits after 9 years.
In a recent stop to The Cruz Show on Real 92.3 LA, the “Made For Me” singer shared the shocking update while discussing her new album, Revenge.
A clip of the interview shows Long explaining that she is prioritizing happiness over drama.
“It’s no secret…I’ve been married for nine years…it just didn’t work out, you know? Again, like I was saying, I don’t have time for drama. I don’t have time for nonsense.”
She added, “This is one of the most amazing times in my life, and if you can’t celebrate that with me, I’m so sorry, but I’m going to have to leave you behind. I cannot.”
Muni continued, “You wake up every day mad, and there’s literally nothing to be upset about. We have a beautiful child, we’re good. We might owe some bills, but everybody has that.
I think it takes incredible strength to realize that this was the love of my life at one point—and he probably could be really good for me if he got it together—but I’m not willing to put my life, my passion, and my happiness on hold for you to catch up.
Unfortunately, you might get it in a year…but I’m sorry, I’m probably already over it.”
The couple tied the knot in 2014 after meeting in Los Angeles. Hairston a producer helped to compose many of Muni’s songs.
Despite initially doubting she would ever get married, Muni found a deep connection with Hairston, who shared similar sentiments. Their bond grew stronger, leading to the formation of Supergiant Records, Long’s label co-founded with Hairston. When Muni and Supergiant Records entered a partnership with Def Jam Recordings in 2022, Muni said in a statement that the label “started as an idea between myself and my husband Raysean in 2019 and over the course of the next two years we would invest, hire, strategize and create. As our team grew, so did our success, and as a result of hours and hours of hard work and intense focus, this year we reaped a bountiful harvest.”
In a previous interview, Muni shared that the love shared between her and her husband inspired her hit “Hrs & Hrs.” She was washing dishes when she wrote the love song which went viral on TikTok. Asked who inspired the song during a 2022 appearance on OnAirKeke, the songwriter replied, “I’ve been married going on eight years, so I wouldn’t know about the kind of love that I’m singing about in the song if I hadn’t experienced it myself.”
