Actress Naturi Naughton recently defended her Power co-star Omari Hardwick after Curtis “50 Cent” Jackson commented on Hardwick’s value to the series. Jackson, who co-produced Power, argued that Hardwick “overvalues himself” during a recent interview, which sparked Naughton’s public response. Speaking at the I Will Graduate Awards in Brooklyn, she strongly disagreed with Jackson’s claims. “That’s insane to me,” Naughton told TMZ, “Omari is, literally, the epitome of Power. Omari Hardwick started this amazing journey, and I don’t know all of what happened with 50 and O, but…there would be no Power without Ghost.”
Naturi Naughton Calls Comments “Insane” and Praises Hardwick’s Role in Power’s Success
Jackson’s comments came after Hardwick expressed frustration about his perceived underpayment while carrying the hit show as its main character. He mentioned feeling overlooked despite his contributions as the “face of the network.” According to Hardwick, both Jackson and Power creator Courtney Kemp were aware of his situation. Jackson, however, rejected Hardwick’s claims, telling the radio hosts, “I think he overvalues himself… if he was that big of a draw, then we would see noise, we would see new things happening.”
Despite Jackson’s skepticism, Naughton spoke highly of Hardwick’s talent and dedication, adding, “Omari is an amazingly talented human, and he’s also a good person.” Naughton, who portrayed Tasha St. Patrick on Power, believes Hardwick’s impact on the series is undeniable and essential to its success.
When asked whether she felt adequately compensated for her role, Naughton responded that her experience was positive. “I definitely do,” she stated, referring to the financial arrangements during her time on the show. While recognizing that her situation might differ from Hardwick’s, she confirmed, “I made a pretty decent penny.”
As the Power universe expands, Naughton remains hopeful that the two will work through their differences. “Much love to 50 and to O,” she added. She expressed optimism for reconciliation, saying, “I hope they can find love and peace between each other.” Naughton’s support highlights her appreciation for Hardwick’s role in Power while maintaining respect for both former colleagues.
