This is truly heartbreaking. What was supposed to be a joyous event ends in tragedy after a newly married man was fatally shot hours after his ceremony.

North Carolina native Tyrek Burton, 37, married his wife, Kiara Holloway, after being together for 16 years, on Oct.12. Many images of the ceremony were posted on social media and it showed Holloway wearing a beautiful white backless, lace mermaid dress with a veil, while Burton wore a white and lace tuxedo jacket.

However, hours after the wedding reception, Greensboro police found Burton deceased in the parking lot of the Barber Park Events Center. According to reports, the groom was shot at least 15 times, leaving both sides of the family in shock and struck with grief.

Nysheria, Kiara Holloway’s sister said, “He stepped up to be a father figure in my two oldest nieces’ lives because their dad was involved. He moved them away from Roxboro, secured a stable job, and was building a future with my sister.”

The shooting is currently under investigation and police have no idea who was behind it or what the motive could have been. A GoFundMe was created to help with the funeral costs. In the caption of the donation, they wrote says, “He was a beloved husband, father of four beautiful girls, brother, and friend, known for his generosity, and infectious smile.”

The post continued, “Unexcepted losses can cause immense stress and pressure on families. Your donation will help cover expenses and provide support for Tyrek’s family during this difficult time. Please help us ensure that his family receives the care they need.”
