Omarion is getting real about his 3-year celibacy journey.

The singer spoke about how his decision to abstain from sex has positively impacted his life and why he started his celibacy journey. “When I decided to become celibate, it was because I was searching for something more,” he said while on the Know Thyself podcast.

The former B2K member also noted that the transition was hard for others to understand. “A lot of people be like ‘Oh he young, he on top of the world… he just put out a #1 album, you ain’t out here f*****g these h**?’ You know what I’m saying? I’m like, ‘Nah… it’s more to life than that.”

Omarion also shared that he gained a new perspective while on this journey, saying that it changed him from being a “sex symbol” a title he carried since the beginning of his career. “It allowed me to kind of step out of this world of being a sex symbol… In hindsight, it was preparing me for my contribution to music. I just found myself in that position for wanting to understand my energy, give myself time to grow.”

He added, “I knew that if I could control two areas of my life, which was food and the urge for sex, then nothing could stop me.” Although his relationship status has been lowkey for a while, Omarion was famously in a relationship with Apryl Jones from 2013 to 2016 and they share two children.
