Pastor Jamal Bryant has responded to threats made by singer and entrepreneur Ray J over an unreleased interview between the two. In a recent social media post, Ray J expressed frustration with the interview, claiming it “wasn’t cleared” and went as far as to say he would “snatch somebody off the pulpit” if it aired.
Ray J’s comments quickly gained attention. He stated, “Don’t play the interview, it’s not cleared, it’s out of bounds.” Ray J added that his treatment by Bryant’s team felt “dirty and illegal,” suggesting he had been disrespected in a way that made him feel unsafe. His remarks highlighted issues he saw in the way church representatives interacted with him during the interview.

In response, Pastor Bryant took to Instagram to defend the integrity of his podcast, The Jamal Bryant Podcast: Let’s Be Clear, and address Ray J’s concerns. “I was so grateful to recently interview one of the few mavericks of this generation, @rayj, who has been more than impactful in many different fields,” Bryant wrote. “It was both surprising and disheartening to wake up to unfounded threats and baseless accusations directed at me.”
Pastor Bryant clarified that the goal of his podcast is to provide “authentic and constructive conversations” with influential voices, noting that Ray J’s episode was no exception. Bryant shared that while his podcast generally airs interviews “live to tape” without edits, Ray J’s interview had undergone careful review to ensure that comments with potential legal implications were removed.
Bryant explained, “In the spirit of brotherhood, it was nixed with the agreement that no other adjustments would be made.” He further assured that every episode aims to be “earnest and transparent.”
The pastor ended his statement on a positive note, emphasizing his commitment to peace within the community. “I refuse to be embroiled in a battle that demeans our community and all that I stand for. I love my brother unconditionally and stand on my agreed promise,” he concluded, suggesting that he hoped to move forward without further public conflict.
