Patti LaBelle Shuts Down Rumors Of Feud W/ Aretha Franklin

Patti LaBelle is spilling all of the tea and setting some records straight on the upcoming episode of Drink Champs.

On Monday (July 25) a trailer for the episode was released on the podcast’s Instagram page, which has fans shocked and excited to see the Godmother of Soul appear there.

During the trailer, LaBelle, 78, talked about smoking weed, her career, things no one knew about the late Luther Vandross, and her rumor feud with Aretha Franklin, in which she said “Me and Aretha, we were good.”

The “Right Kind Of Lover” singer went on to reveal how Luther Vandross broke into the music industry. She claimed that Vandross was selling her clothes and jokingly said, “I heard he was stealing them.”

However, this isn’t the first time she has spoken about Vandross. While doing an interview on “Watch What Happens Live” in 2017, LaBelle got candid about his sexuality, revealing that it was something that he struggled with.

“We talked about it. Basically, he did not want his mother to be… although she might have known, but he wasn’t going to come out and say this to the world. And he had a lot of lady fans and he told me he just didn’t want to upset the world,” she said.

At the end of Drink Champs trailer, Patti LaBelle stated that she feels cleansed after the interview.

“I cleansed myself today on this show. I said a lot of things that I probably shouldn’t have, but I don’t care. I said it and I feel good about being here.”
