Prince To Receive Lifetime Achievement Grammy Award

Although it’s been nearly 10 years since his passing, Prince is still earning accolades for his prolific contributions as a muscian.

The Recording Academy announced that Prince will receive the Lifetime Achievement Award.

Frankie Beverly, Dr. Bobby Jones, Roxanne Shante, The Clash, Taj Mahal, and Frankie Valli will also be honored.

Harvey Mason Jr, CEO of the Recording Academy, expressed his excitement about the upcoming awards ceremony.

“It’s an amazing privilege to honor this eclectic group of music icons during the year’s biggest week in music. Each of this year’s Special Merit Award recipients has left an indelible mark on music. From paving the way for others to innovation that forever has changed the trajectory of the musical landscape. We can’t wait to celebrate this group and their achievements in February,” Mason said.

As a seven-time Grammy Award winner, Prince is regarded as one of the greatest musicians of all time. The multi-instrumentalist has sold over 150 million records. 1999, Purple Rain, and Sign of the Times have been inducted into the Grammy Hall of Fame.

Prince, an iconic figure in the world of music, was an innovator who melded elements of R&B, rock, funk, and pop. Throughout his illustrious 40-year career, Prince released more than 39 albums.

Prince also wrote and produced hits for Chaka Khan, Madonna, Sheila E., and Patti LaBelle. He helped launch the careers of The Time, Vanity 6, Apollonia 6, Carmen Elektra, and many more.

At the 2025 Grammys, Prince is also been nominated for Best Historical for his work for engineering, “Diamonds and Pearls: Super Deluxe Edition.”

The Recording Academy’s Special Merit Awards Ceremony will take place at the Wilshire Ebell Theatre in Los Angeles on Feb. 1.

On February 2nd, the 67th Grammy Awards will broadcast live from Crypto.com Arena in Los Angeles.
