Hip-hop icon and actress Queen Latifah has joined forces with Good American for their latest “American Icons” campaign. This collaboration comes just days after Latifah was honored with a National Medal of Arts by President Joe Biden. Known for her focus on female empowerment and inclusivity, Latifah’s involvement with Good American, a brand founded by Khloé Kardashian, speaks to her values. “I’ve worn Good American for quite some time now in various projects,” she shared. “I’ve worn their jeans on The Equalizer, a suit at the Super Bowl, and even denim to my bodyguard’s 60th birthday party. We partied all night.”

Embracing Style and Inclusivity

For Latifah, the partnership feels natural. She praises Good American’s dedication to size inclusivity, a commitment she shares with her audience. “This works for who I am and the women and people who I speak to,” Latifah said, noting how the brand’s versatile and comfortable pieces resonate with her style. Shot by Cass Bird and styled by Julia Sarr-Jamois, the campaign photos showcase Latifah’s classic yet avant-garde fashion sense.

When discussing her personal style, Latifah described it as “in many ways classic but very avant-garde.” She aims to combine timeless pieces with bold colors, creating a wardrobe that lets her feel comfortable and confident. “Style is a never-ending story because I think style is a bit of a mindset,” she explained. “It’s emotion, it’s an attitude. But it is sort of timeless.”

Queen Latifah Celebrating ‘90s Fashion and Personal Evolution

Queen Latifah also expressed excitement about the resurgence of ‘90s fashion trends. “Get back in those baggy jeans, oversize this and that,” she laughed. “Things go around and come back around. It’s fun to watch it happen.” She finds a sense of nostalgia in the return of these trends, connecting it to her journey and growth over the years.

Reflecting on the campaign, Latifah shared her understanding of what makes an icon: “[It’s] being so good at being who you are that people say, ‘Damn, who is that?’” she said. As someone who stands for women, her identity, and humanity, Latifah’s collaboration with Good American is an inspiring addition to her legacy.
