Quincy Brown, the 33-year-old actor and musician, paid a heartfelt tribute to his late mother, Kim Porter, on what would have been her 54th birthday. In an emotional video shared on social media, Brown offered fans a glimpse into a cherished family memory that he recently uncovered.
“It is December 15th, and I want to wish my mother a happy heavenly birthday,” Brown began. He explained that instead of sharing “exclusive, unseen photos” as he had done in the past, he wanted to tell a meaningful story this year. “I’m not searching for exclusive photos anymore. That’s just not what I’m here to give the gram,” he shared, adding that the moment felt uniquely special.
Quincy Brown Makes Nostalgic Discovery
Brown revealed that he had been spending time at the family home in Columbus, Georgia, revisiting memories of his mother. “I’ve been going back to Columbus lately, and making sure the house down there is loved on,” he explained. “Every time I go back, I always find something. Something sacred…something that’s just like, ‘How did I not find this before?’”
During his recent visit, Brown came across an envelope tucked away in a box. “Going through crates and stuff…Nothing that has no labels on it. Didn’t say my name, didn’t say my mom’s name. Nothing. But I found an envelope. Sealed. Never before opened. And I know this handwriting,” he said, recognizing his mother’s distinct script on the front.
Inside the envelope, Brown found a Cookie Monster birthday card dated 1994. “It was my birthday, apparently, so on my mom’s birthday, I want to share this with y’all,” he said with a smile. Tucked inside the card was a ten-dollar bill. “My mom gave me my first ever dollar bill,” he revealed. “The classic $10 bill. I haven’t seen one of these in ten years. But to see this, from her, saying ‘I love you, Mommy’—it’s crazy to me.”
Porter, a beloved model and mother, tragically passed away in 2018 at age 47 due to lobar pneumonia. Despite the loss, her children, including Quincy, Christian Combs, and twins Jessie and D’Lila, continue to honor her legacy. “I think it was meant for me to see this 30 years later,” Quincy reflected. “Happy birthday, Mom. Love you.”
Brown’s tribute offered a touching reminder of the enduring bond between mother and child.
