Aaliyah’s Anticipated Album Debuts This Year
Blackground Records announced the official release of Aaliyah’s long-awaited project, ‘Unstoppable,’ in 2024, coinciding with what would have been her 45th birthday on January 16th. Following the excitement of releasing Aaliyah’s beloved hits in late 2021, the label surprised fans by revealing a collection of previously unheard tracks for ‘Unstoppable.’ Initially set for January 2022, the project faced mixed reactions, leading to a rework. Although no confirmed release date is available, the star-studded guest list, including Ne-Yo, Chris Brown, Future, Drake, The Weeknd, and more, is expected to remain part of the project.
R. Kelly Unaware of Lawsuit Outcome
Currently serving a 30-year sentence, R. Kelly claims ignorance about a ruling in August 2023 that awarded six women $10.5 million over threats linked to the canceled screening of the Surviving R. Kelly docuseries. Kelly asserts his inability to comprehend beyond a grade school level and relies on his lawyers for understanding. The accusations involve threats made by Kelly and his then-manager Donnell Russell to silence women in the docuseries and threats of legal action against them and the producers. The lawsuit alleges the shutdown of a December 2018 screening in New York City due to threats of violence. Kelly distances himself from Russell, asserting Russell was not his manager and shifting blame onto him if the threat was made for personal reasons.
