Actress and producer Regina Hall is taking a new direction in entertainment with her latest venture: an unscripted competition show, “Squad Games.” Through her production company, Rh Negative, Hall recently signed an exclusive first-look deal with MGM Alternative, Amazon MGM Studios’ unscripted division, to develop a variety of shows. The first project in the lineup is “Squad Games,” a competition series that draws inspiration from Hall’s hit film Girls Trip.
Regina Hall Partners with MGM Alternative for New Reality Series
“I’m so excited for this new partnership with MGM,” Hall said in a statement. “I’m positive that the relationship between Rh Negative and their team will be an incredibly supportive and productive one, and I’m thrilled about what we have in the works.” Hall’s enthusiasm for the partnership reflects her excitement to dive into reality television and unscripted storytelling.
Described as “loosely inspired” by Girls Trip, Squad Games will bring celebrities and their best friends to an exotic destination, where they’ll face a series of fun and wild challenges. The series aims to blend comedy and competition while showcasing genuine friendships among its participants. MGM Alternative’s general manager, Barry Poznick, expressed his admiration for Hall’s talent, saying, “Ever since we saw Regina Hall co-hosting the Academy Awards two years ago, we knew she had something special that would resonate with reality fans. Her humor, honesty, creativity, and style of storytelling make her a perfect partner as we continue to expand MGM Alternative’s slate of premium unscripted programming.”
Hall’s recent work has solidified her as a versatile producer and performer, with credits that include her 2022 comedy Honk for Jesus, Save Your Soul, as well as Amazon Prime’s Master. Now, Hall is set to bring her flair for storytelling to the unscripted genre, marking a new chapter in her career.
“Rh Negative and MGM Alternative have a shared vision,” Hall added. “This project is just the beginning of what we hope will be a long and creative partnership.” Fans of Girls Trip and newcomers alike can expect Squad Games to deliver the kind of humor and heartfelt connections that Hall has brought to screens for years.
