Rosie Perez opens up about the time she played cupid for Tupac Shakur and Madonna.

During a recent appearance on “The Drew Berrymore Show,” the actress said that the entire thing happened after Perez agreed to go to the Soul Train Music Awards with Tupac to make someone jealous.

“I’m gonna go with you. We’re gonna walk up in there, we’re gonna act like we’re on a date and he’s going to die,” Perez revealed the rapper said. When they arrived, they ran into Madonna, who asked if they were really together. Perez said that they were only faking and then the singer asked if she could hook them up.

Rosie Perez also talked about this story while on “The View” in 2015. “When we get to Soul Train Music Awards, every female artist there was on my [butt],” she said. “And they kept going, ‘Hi Rosie, hi, hi’ [People] who never spoke to me before. Yes! And there were two girls, they will remain nameless actually wanted to beat me up.”

Tupac Shakur and Madonna met in 1993, however, they ended their relationship two years later. Also in 2015, Madonna confirmed that they were dating and that same year a letter from the late rapper to the singer resurfaced.
