Serena Williams maybe making a comeback to the world of tennis.

The 23-time Grand Slam champion posted a cryptic message on her X (Twitter) account that has fans wondering if she will be making her return. “I’m ready to hit some balls again,” she wrote.

Williams began her tennis career in 1995, along with her sister Venus. She would go on to win major tournaments throughout her career with her last match being in 2022 at the US Open in September against Ajla Tomljanović.

Since retiring, Williams has been vocal about possibly making a return to tennis. “The changes are very high,” she said in 2022 one month after the U.S. Open. “But at the same time, I’m so happy. I really want my daughter and my family to be ahead of me. It’s interesting how women think, and I like that we think way and I think that’s what makes us so special.”

Although, fans are waiting for the day she returns to the tennis court, Serena Williams is slated to host this year’s ESPY Awards in July. “This is a dream come true for me, and something I’ve wanted to do for as long as I can remember,” she said in a statement. “It has been a sensational year for sports and an unprecedented one for female athletes. I can’t wait to celebrate everyone on stage in July.”
