Shannon Sharpe allegedly offered his accuser $10 million to settle the case out of court, however, she declined it.
According to reports, Sharpe’s lawyer, Lanny J. Davis, shared the information about the proposed settlement presented to Doe during mediations that took place last month. Although she seemed to be thinking about it, she “suddenly, without warning, walked away from our offer,” Davis said.
He also said that “it was a big surprise to us when suddenly this case was filed without any advance warning.” Tony Buzbee, the plaintiff’s attorney, has confirmed that his client was offered a payout.
In a statement, he wrote, “On the one hand, Mr. Sharpe and his lawyers claim that the case filed by Jane Doe is meritless, yet on the other hand, they now have disclosed that Mr. Sharpe offered Jane Doe $10 million in writing not to file her lawsuit.”
We recently reported that Shannon Sharpe was being sued for $50 million for sexual assault and battery by the accuser, going under the name Jane Doe. In her lawsuit, Doe admitted that she was in a “rocky consensual relationship” with the former NFL player after they met in 2023 when she was 20 years old.
Her lawsuit also states that she tried to leave him in 2024 but he “raped her and this sexually assaulted her in January 2025.” On Tuesday, April 22nd, Buzbee released the audio of a conversation between Sharpe and his accuser, where he said that he would “choke the s**t out of her. However, Davis said that his client spoke in the heat of the moment and did not mean his words.
Davis denied all of the allegations brought up against his client and revealed that Sharpe is in the process of filing a counterclaim. Shannon Sharpe recently released a video of himself denying all allegations and called the lawsuit a shakedown.
“My career is all about real talk and honesty,” he said. “I know my family and fans know exactly what this is about, and I’m going to be out there telling you whatever I need to say just like I always do.”
