Even the most decorated gymnast in history has her limits. Simone Biles, fresh off her historic triumph at the Paris Olympics, recently shared a lighthearted moment with fans about her first post-Olympics workout—a Pilates class that proved unexpectedly challenging.
A Humbling Workout for Simone Biles
“First time working out since the Olympics,” Biles, 27, wrote on her Instagram Stories. “This is what I wore to a Pilates class that I will never be attending again! Y’all stay strong out there lmao. It was too hard.”
For an athlete who has conquered some of the most difficult gymnastics routines in history, the candid admission resonated with many fans. Pilates, known for its focus on flexibility and core strength, incorporates exercises using machines with resistance bands and movable benches. While designed to improve posture and muscle strength, the class was a stark reminder for Biles of how different fitness disciplines can challenge the body in unexpected ways.
Biles’ return to workouts follows her dazzling performance at the Paris Olympics, where she secured three more gold medals, bringing her total to an unprecedented seven. However, the strain on her body remains a constant factor in her journey.
“Since I’m older, my body is like a ticking time bomb,” Biles revealed during the Simone Biles: Rising docuseries. Her resilience was on full display in Paris, where she overcame a calf injury to deliver a near-flawless performance.
The possibility of competing in her home country at the 2028 Los Angeles Olympics remains open. “Never say never,” she told reporters in August. “The next Olympics is at home. But I am getting really old.”
As she navigates the balance between athletic ambition and personal priorities, Biles continues to inspire. Her husband, NFL player Jonathan Owens, emphasized his unwavering support, saying to PEOPLE, “I’m here to support her a thousand percent whatever she decides to do.”
