Olympic champion Simone Biles expressed her dismay with the 2024 election results and called on President Joe Biden to “make things shake” in his final days in office. Biles, who has rarely weighed in on political matters, took to social media to address Biden after former President Donald Trump was declared the election winner, defeating Vice President Kamala Harris.

“Mr. Biden, I need you to stand up, straighten your back, and make some things shake before your departure,” Biles wrote on X (formerly Twitter), adding, “xoxo the women in America.”

Biles’s comments immediately drew attention as they echoed the frustration felt by many supporters of Harris, the first woman of color to lead a major-party ticket. Though Biles often avoids politics, her post this week underscored her feelings regarding the election’s outcome and the perceived challenges facing American women.

In addition to her message to Biden, Biles shared a series of posts on other platforms, highlighting her disappointment. On Threads, she wrote, “You gotta be f**king kidding me,” followed by “I’m SO sorry America” and “we deserve better.” The 27-year-old, who is known as the most decorated gymnast in U.S. history, added a broken heart emoji in one post, capturing her disillusionment with the election result.

In another post on Instagram, Biles called out the decision to elect a “convicted felon over a woman,” echoing her belief that the decision was, as she put it, “f—ing insane.” Her direct language and candid reaction reflect her deep-seated concern for the direction of the country.

While Biles has previously refrained from political endorsements, she has supported issues related to women’s rights and mental health. In July 2022, Biden awarded Biles the Presidential Medal of Freedom, the highest civilian honor in the U.S., recognizing her contributions to both sports and social advocacy. As Biden prepares to leave office, Biles’s call for him to take decisive action has resonated across social media, amplifying her voice beyond the world of sports.
