In an unexpected twist, legendary rapper Snoop Dogg recently participated in a 200-meter sprint at the U.S. Olympic Team track and field trials in Eugene, Oregon. The 52-year-old hip-hop icon clocked in at 34.44 seconds, significantly behind the world record but still an impressive feat for his age.

Running against seasoned athletes like four-time Olympic medalist Ato Bolden and World Championships medalist Wallace Spearmon, Snoop was undoubtedly the underdog. Spearmon took first place, with Bolden finishing second. Despite coming in third, Snoop’s enthusiasm and humor shone through. “34.44 for a 52-year-old? Ain’t bad,” he remarked, eliciting cheers and laughter from the crowd.

Preparation for a New Role

Snoop’s participation in the race is part of his preparation for his role as a guest commentator for NBC at the upcoming 2024 Paris Olympics. He will be providing special reports for the Olympics primetime show on NBC and Peacock, attending various events, visiting landmarks, and interviewing athletes and their families. This gig follows his highly praised commentary stint alongside Kevin Hart during the 2021 Tokyo games.

Dressed in a team USA shirt honoring the late Kobe Bryant and American flag-themed pants, Snoop brought his unique flair to the track. After catching his breath, he humorously commented on the steeplechase event. “Oh, he’s jumping on top of the hurdle. You can do that?! That was a cold trick right there. I like that one. Went off the tippy-top,” he exclaimed, much to the delight of viewers.

Fans Excited for Snoop’s Olympic Presence

Snoop’s involvement in the Olympics has fans buzzing with excitement. “NEED THIS IN THE OLYMPICS,” one fan tweeted, while another added, “Snoop gonna always be an icon.” His presence promises to add a unique and entertaining element to the Olympic coverage, starting on July 26.

As Snoop continues to check off items on his bucket list, his adventurous spirit and ability to connect with audiences make him a standout figure. Whether he’s on the track or behind the mic, Snoop Dogg is proving that he’s game for any challenge, and fans can’t wait to see what he brings to the Paris Olympics.
