Snoop Dogg has been announced to be one of the final torchbearers for the Olympic flame. He will participate in the torch relay before the Opening Ceremony in Paris on Friday. Snoop Dogg, whose real name is Calvin Cordozar Broadus Jr., will carry the torch through Saint-Denis. This announcement was made by the town’s mayor, Mathieu Hanotin.

Snoop Dogg has already arrived in Paris, sharing a photo on social media with the caption, “U ready? Paris 2024 Olympics ya digggg.” This marks a significant moment as he prepares to contribute to the prestigious event.

Snoop Dogg’s Involvement with NBCUniversal

NBCUniversal previously announced that Snoop Dogg will be part of their Olympic coverage. In a statement from December, NBC outlined his role, stating he will provide “regular reports” and “explore the city’s iconic landmarks” for the network’s primetime shows on NBC and Peacock.

Snoop expressed his excitement, saying, “I grew up watching the Olympics and am thrilled to see the incredible athletes bring their A-game to Paris. It’s a celebration of skill, dedication, and the pursuit of greatness.” His enthusiasm for the Games is clear as he joins the coverage team.

A Unique Contribution to the Olympics

Snoop Dogg will check in with NBC Olympics host Mike Tirico and provide coverage at various events. “He’ll explore the city’s iconic landmarks, attend Olympic competitions and events, and visit with the athletes, their friends and families,” NBC stated.

The rapper also participated in the US Olympic trials in Eugene, Oregon, running a 200-meter exhibition race in 34.44 seconds earlier this month. His involvement extends beyond mere reporting, showcasing his active participation in the Olympic spirit.

In a translated message from Mayor Hanotin, he emphasized the significance of Saint-Denis: “Saint Denis: last step before the Eiffel Tower. An international cast @SnoopDogg for the last stretch of the Olympic Flame.”

Snoop Dogg concluded his statement with optimism, saying, “We’re going to have some amazing competitions and, of course, I will be bringing that Snoop style to the mix. It’s going to be the most epic Olympics ever, so stay tuned, and keep it locked. Let’s elevate, celebrate, and make these games unforgettable, smoke the competition and may the best shine like gold. Peace and Olympic LOVE, ya dig?”
