Atlanta’s very own, Summer Walker, has had her fans waiting for new music since she dropped her latest album Still Over It released in 2021. The album debuted at No. 1 on the Billboard 200 chart. The album’s tracks also garnered 201.1 million on-demand streams, which ended up becoming the largest streaming week for an R&B album by a woman in history. After all that success, the singer has finally announced that a new project is on the way.
Over the weekend, Walker performed at the Dreamville Festival in North Carolina. During her performance, she sang hits like Over It, Session 32 and Girls Need Love. Before ending her set with the single Insane, she announced to the crowd that her new EP, CLEAR 2: Soft Life will drop May 19 via LVRN/Interscope Records.
The new EP is set to be the sequel to her 2019 EP, CLEAR. The four-track project consisted of only acoustic songs. The EP was released three months after her debut project Last Day of Summer.
Summer Walker Doesn’t Quit
The news of the EP comes amidst the singer’s very eventful year. Walker just gave birth to twins in January, making her a mother of three. Her birthing process was assisted by Erykah Badu and her daughter Puma Curry. In an Instagram post, she shared the journey of her process. “I’m so proud of myself,” she said in the caption. “Just sharing to inspire other women, cause I know once you carry twins to almost 42 weeks, especially with one breech, people will try to steer you towards induction or C-section. You can do it, this was my second home birth all natural 7 hrs, no tearing & I couldn’t of done it without my spirit guides, Godparents, birth team, my elders, & the best dad doula ever Larry lol, he was so hands on the whole time I was really impressed it wasn’t easy but it gets done.”
Walker’s hard work doesn’t stop there. She recently teamed up with LVRN labelmate, Alex Vaughn for the track, “So Be It (Remix)” from her newest project. Along with gracing the stage at Dreamville Festival, she you can catch her live in May. She will perform at Lovers & Friends Festival in Las Vegas and take the main stage at Mary J. Blige’s Strength of a Woman Festival in Atlanta.
