The first trailer for The Fall of Diddy, an Investigation Discovery docuseries, was unveiled on Thursday, offering a sobering preview of the four-part series exploring Sean “Diddy” Combs’ rise and fall. Known for his influence on music and pop culture, the series examines disturbing allegations of sexual assault, violence, and misconduct that have overshadowed his career.
“Spanning Combs’ decades-long impact, from his early days at Howard University to his 2024 arrest, the docuseries reveals insidious patterns of alleged abuse,” reads a statement from Maxine Productions, creators of the series. The program will air on January 27 and 28 at 9 p.m. ET, later streaming on Max.
Interviews Reveal a Troubling Diddy History
The trailer features emotional testimonies from music industry insiders, journalists, and alleged victims. Former VIBE Editor-in-Chief Danyel Smith, speaking publicly for the first time about Diddy’s alleged violent behavior, says, “This is where I’m supposed to be.” An unseen voice adds, “I’ve been quiet for 18 years. I am absolutely nervous sharing what I’ve seen.”
Other voices include Thalia Graves, who alleges Diddy raped her in 2001 and threatened her into silence, and Rodney “Lil Rod” Jones, a former producer who accuses Diddy of sexual harassment. Cassie, his ex-girlfriend, filed a 2023 lawsuit claiming he physically abused her and forced her into non-consensual acts. The trailer even revisits the infamous 2016 footage of Diddy chasing Cassie down a hotel hallway, allegedly assaulting her.
“We did not realize the extent of the darkness,” says one interviewee. The docuseries uses interviews and archival footage to present a comprehensive account of the mogul’s alleged abuses.
Currently, Diddy is in federal custody on charges of sex trafficking and racketeering, awaiting a May trial. If convicted, the 55-year-old faces life in prison. Over 25 lawsuits have been filed against him, with attorneys representing more than 120 alleged victims.
In addition to The Fall of Diddy, Peacock will release its own documentary, Diddy: The Making of a Bad Boy, on January 14, focusing on the mogul’s earlier career.
