Tia Mowry is opening up about some of the most personal aspects of her life, including her experience of losing her virginity to ex-husband Cory Hardrict. In her new reality series, Tia Mowry: My Next Act, the actress gets candid about her journey to self-discovery after her 2022 divorce from Hardrict, whom she was married to for 14 years.

In an emotional conversation with actress Essence Atkins, Mowry shared that Hardrict was not only her first love but also her first intimate partner. “Cory was my first everything,” Mowry revealed. “I wasn’t even allowed to date until I was 18 years old. I met Cory when I turned 20, and I lost my virginity at 25. There, I said it! And then we got married! Boom!”

Tia Mowry Reflecting on Marriage and Authenticity

Mowry expressed that her past marriage wasn’t as picture-perfect as it seemed. During a solo confessional on the show, she admitted, “I got tired of not being authentic. I would go home and feel alone.” While she cherished many of the happy moments from her marriage, she acknowledged that something was missing.

When speaking about the timing of her divorce, Mowry explained, “I knew when I really started to focus on my happiness. We, as women, tend to focus on everybody else’s happiness—our children, our friends, our family. But at the end of the day, it’s about self-love.”

Mowry’s divorce from Hardrict was finalized in April 2023. They continue to co-parent their two children, Cree, 13, and Cairo, 6. In a heartfelt message to fans, she shared, “We will maintain a friendship as we co-parent our beautiful children. I am grateful for all the happy times we had together.”

Tia Mowry: My Next Act offers a raw and honest look at Mowry’s post-divorce life. “This show is raw, authentic, and emotional,” Mowry said. “I did this show to inspire and encourage people going through life transitions. I didn’t want people to feel alone, as I did, through my journey.”
