Toni Braxton and Cedric the Entertainer have extended their co-headlining Las Vegas residency, “Love & Laughter,” with additional dates.
Braxton and Cedric will perform seven new shows at The Chelsea at The Cosmopolitan of Las Vegas through the end of the year.
The next run of limited-engagement shows begins Aug. 9 and concludes Dec. 21. All shows begin at 8 p.m. Tickets are on sale now at Ticketmaster.
“Comedy and song have been at the heart of the human communal experience since the beginning of time, and we are thrilled to join on stage to bring that experience to the Cosmopolitan,” Braxton and Cedric said in a joint statement. “We could all use a little more love and laughter in our lives.
The R&B legend and comedy titan’s friendship started long before they decided to conquer Sin City together. While the gig marks their first time working together, the two performers became close long ago — through their kids.
“When they were young, they dated, and they were the age where we had to take them to each other’s homes,” Cedric told PEOPLE. “We would sit around and laugh and talk while they just hung out. That really was the start of our friendship.”
Braxton previously held her own Las Vegas residency from 2006-2008. Upon preparing for the shows, Cedric turned to Braxton for advice on how to maintain stamina within the busy schedule. “I did ask her a few questions about the nightly performances of it, and she gave really honest answers about resting my voice and how to get enough sleep and doing yoga,” he quiped with a laugh. “No, she was like, ‘Get up there and do what you do.’ That’s it.”
The first installment of the residency ran for seven shows from April 27 through July.
