Travis Hunter, the 2024 Heisman Trophy winner and college football sensation, has officially signed with Lil Wayne’s Young Money APAA Sports agency. This decision comes after Hunter considered multiple prominent agencies, including WME, Klutch Sports Group, CAA, and Athletes First, before opting for the hip-hop mogul’s firm.

A Game-Changer for Young Money APAA Sports

Hunter’s signing adds to the agency’s growing influence in the sports world. Young Money APAA Sports already represents athletes across the NFL, NBA, soccer, and college sports. Notably, the agency manages Hunter’s former Jackson State teammate, Isaiah Bolden, now with the New England Patriots. The signing of Duke University’s quarterback to a groundbreaking two-year, $8 million NIL deal also highlights the agency’s recent successes.

“This partnership feels right,” Hunter said, referencing his admiration for Lil Wayne and the agency’s understanding of his unique talents. “Lil Wayne has always been about excellence, and I want my career to reflect that same standard.”

A Strong Partnership with SMAC Entertainment

While Young Money APAA Sports will handle Hunter’s on-field representation and playing contracts, SMAC Entertainment will oversee his off-field pursuits. SMAC, which also represents Colorado Buffaloes head coach Deion Sanders and his son Shedeur Sanders, has been instrumental in securing major NIL deals for Hunter, including a recent partnership with Adidas.

Hunter’s relationship with Lil Wayne began gaining attention earlier this month. At the Heisman Trophy ceremony, Lil Wayne made an appearance, cementing speculation about the future collaboration. Hunter mentioned the rapper during his acceptance speech, crediting Lil Wayne’s music as a source of inspiration. “My fiancée introduced me to his songs, and now they’re the soundtrack to my preparation,” Hunter shared.

Travis Hunter Eyeing a Bright Future in the NFL

Hunter’s electrifying college career concluded with an impressive performance in the Alamo Bowl, where he racked up 106 receiving yards and a touchdown. His versatility as a two-way player—excelling at both wide receiver and cornerback—has drawn comparisons to NFL legends.
