In a recent appearance on a podcast, prominent Trump-aligned lawyer Mike Davis issued a strongly worded threat to New York Attorney General Letitia James. Davis, a former Senate aide and Supreme Court clerk, is rumored to be a contender for Attorney General under President-elect Donald Trump’s administration. Known for his aggressive rhetoric, Davis specifically warned James against continuing her legal actions against Trump.
“We Will Put You in Prison for Conspiracy Against Rights”
During his appearance on The Benny Show, Davis directed his comments at James, who led a high-profile lawsuit that resulted in a $454 million civil judgment against Trump and his organization for fraud. Referring to James dismissively as “sweetheart,” Davis stated, “I dare you to try to continue your lawfare against President Trump in his second term.” He added, “We’re not messing around this time, and we will put your fat a– in prison for conspiracy against rights.”
Davis, who has gained attention for his abrasive language, went further, suggesting that James and others “think long and hard before you want to violate President Trump’s constitutional rights or any other American’s constitutional rights.” The comments drew backlash and intensified the spotlight on Trump’s legal challenges and the potential confrontational stance of his second administration.
AG Letitia James Responds With Resolve
Attorney General James responded to Trump’s election win with a message of resilience, expressing readiness to uphold New York’s values despite a new administration. “I congratulate the president-elect, Donald Trump,” she stated in a joint release with Governor Kathy Hochul. However, she clarified that her office will not back down: “We will not compromise our values, integrity, or principles.”
James elaborated that her office is prepared for another Trump term and is “ready to fight back again.” Highlighting her office’s prior work defending against “abuses of power and federal efforts to harm New Yorkers,” she assured the public that she would stand firm to protect New Yorkers’ rights.
Davis’s remarks underscore the heightened tensions between Trump’s allies and Democratic leaders, with James standing as a symbol of opposition. As Trump prepares to take office again, confrontations between his administration and figures like James appear inevitable.
