Walt Ehmer ‘Waffle House’ CEO Passes Away

Walt Ehmer, CEO of “Waffle House” has passed away at 58. 

Ehmer, who has been with the Georgia-based restaurant, passed away after battling a long illness. The announcement was made by the company’s board of directors. “He will be greatly missed by his entire Waffle House family,” they wrote in a statement. “For now, we know all of you join us in extending our deepest condolences to Walt’s family. Please keep them in your thoughts and prayers during this difficult time.” 

Walt Ehmer joined the company in 1992 and became the president of the company in 2002. He would later become the CEO and chairman of the chain restaurant that is best known for its breakfast.

After learning about his sudden passing, many people sent out their condolences to him. The Atlanta Police Foundation referred to Ehmer as a “dedicated leader, tireless advocate for public safety, and an unwavering supporter of the non-profit organization’s mission to build a safer, stronger Atlanta.” 

The statement continued, “His passion for community service and steadfast commitment to improving the lives of others will leave a lasting impact on all who had the privilege of knowing him. Our thoughts and prayers are with his family, friends, and colleagues during this difficult time. He will be greatly missed.”

Ehmer’s alma mater, Georgia Tech, also paid tribute to him on X (formerly known as Twitter) and said, “Today we remember @wafflehouse CEO and Georgia Tech alum Walter Ehmer. After graduating from Tech in 1989, Ehmer began at Waffle House in 1992. He remained a dear friend to the Institute throughout his career.”
