Wendy Williams breaks her silence about being under a conservatorship.

In a recent phone interview, the former TV talk show host said she feels like she’s “in prison” in the conservatorship. She also cleared up the rumors about her being cognitively impaired after her team announced that she was diagnosed with frontotemporal dementia and aphasia.

“I am not cognitively impaired. But I feel like I am in prison,” she said. “I’m in this place where the people are in their 90s, and their 80s, and their 70s. There’s something wrong with these people here on this floor.”

Williams, and her niece Alex, also revealed that she can only make phone calls in the facility but can’t receive them. “They won’t allow you to leave or have visitors,” Williams said, “So you can’t even leave and take a walk if you wanted to, or take a trip or visit family members.”

As the interview went on, Williams added that the guardianship system is “broken” and called her treatment “emotional abuse.” Wendy Williams also spoke about the Lifetime documentary, that resulted in a lawsuit from her guardian, Sabrina E. Morrissey, who wanted to stop the release of the film.

“She was the one who wanted to do the documentary, you understand what I’m saying?” Wendy continued, “What do I think about being abused? Look, this system is broken, this system that I’m in. This system has falsified a lot.”
