During a recent CBS Mornings interview with Gayle King, R&B sensation Victoria Monét received an unexpected surprise from iconic band Earth, Wind & Fire. King hinted at a creative idea for Monét and shared a preview of the full conversation.
Monét, known for her Grammy-nominated song Hollywood, a collaboration with Earth, Wind & Fire that features her 2-year-old daughter Hazel Monét, was met with enthusiastic congratulations from EWF member Philip Bailey.
“Hey Victoria, huge congratulations. We are over the moon and excited for you,” Bailey exclaimed, leaving Monét gasping.
Verdine White, another member of Earth, Wind & Fire, added, “We are so honored and blessed to have worked with you.”
The Grammy nomination for Hollywood is one of seven nominations Monét has received at this year’s ceremony. In addition to Best Traditional R&B Performance, she is nominated for Best New Artist, Best R&B Song, Record Of The Year for On My Mama, Best R&B Album, Best Engineered Album, Non-Classical for Jaguar II, and Best R&B Performance for How Does It Make You Feel.
The 34-year-old acclaimed songwriter released the highly praised Jaguar II in August 2023, featuring collaborations with Earth, Wind & Fire, Lucky Daye, and Buju Banton.
