Usher reminded fans this weekend that he still has a few tricks up his sleeve. The singer performed at Dreamville Festival over the weekend. In the spirit of April Fools Day, he pulled one over on the crowd during his performance.
Midway through his set, the U Got It Bad singer told his fans that he had a special surprise for them. He then went on to announce that he will be joined on stage by Beyoncé.
“You know, I don’t know if you guys listened to some of the interviews that I did before we decided to do this show, but as promised I said I would have a special surprise for you tonight, ladies and gentlemen,” Usher said on stage.
“You guys wanna know what that surprise is? Ladies and gentlemen, without further adieu, put your hands together for the one, the only, Beyoncé.”
The crowd lost their collective minds. After a few moments of him looking at the side of the stage waiting for the Cuff It singer to come out, he told the crowd to hold on as he walked closer to convince “Beyoncé” to come out. He then walked back to the mic and after a brief moment he says “April fools!”
Although you could hear the disappointed reactions, fans still laughed at the stunt pulled by the singer. Twitter users even shared how frustrating but comical his stunt was.
“does usher think this is a joke ? don’t EVER play about a Beyoncé appearance like” one user tweeted.
“Usher killed it last night and I need to see him in Vegas, BUT do not play around and say you are bringing out Beyoncé” another tweeted.
Usher did eventually bring out a surprise. Hip-hop duo City Girls joined Usher on stage for their song, Good Love.
